I think the importance of these meds is understated because stimulants have greatly reduced my anxiety and increased my overall quality of life. When I take them, shit just finally quiets down in my head and I can focus on what I need to do.

But a damn agency (formed because the government hates black and poor people) is keeping others from a marginally better life in a capitalist hellscape. Pure dystopian poetry. Couldn’t make this up if you tried

Stimulant shortage, not stimulus. The stimulus shortage was when Biden stiffed us on the checks he’d promised.

And it affects the entire world. Some bloody yanks are stepping on their dicks at the other side of the globe because they’re too busy harassing addicts instead of helping them and now one of my meds has tripled in price while the other one is completely impossible to get.

Met a guy who did time for making meth solely for self treating his ADHD, busted under manufacturing and distribution.

I have to take stims for my ADHD, if I don’t it gets… severe. If I lost access I’d be looking at creative sources too.

I have to drive four hours every month to pick up my stimulant medication because of fucked DEA rules on pharmacy distances for controlled substances.

I mean it’s essentially just amphetamine with less side effects. Taken at the same doses, meth isn’t any more dangerous than plain amphetamine. It’s just that meth is 10 for a gram, while adderall is like 5 for 10 mils, so people doing meth are just doing way more of the shit. If somebody benefits from adderall but has to take more than they should (70mg a day+), replacing their prescription with 10-30mg of desoxyn a day could be a better solution. Having a longer half life, more stimulation with less physical side effects make meth a far more reasonable prescription than recreational users would have you believe, albeit far from a frontline solution.

They control the supply of raw amphetamine and have a quota for the entire pharmaceutical industry for a given period of time.

Some part of what they are blaming is that some manufacturers apparently are hoarding some of it instead of returning unused stock. This inefficiency is, of course, still the DEA’s fault.

The really stupid thing is that pharmacies can’t order directly from the companies lol. They have to order through middlemen.

I suppose it somewhat makes sense because you don’t want to order medicine in bulk at a vulnerable location like a store, and the manufacturers don’t want spend a ton on shipping just for a few bottles at a time.

But then you have like 500 different middlemen who price things differently. It’s like gas stations for medicine.
