Interesting SOTD today, of the kind that don’t happen during AA.
This tub of Reserve Classic was a gift by the very generous @DaveWave94@sub.wetshaving.social, formerly u/Teufelskraft. I know that Reserve Classic is the resurrection of the scent of a 1970s Gillette aftershave, but it really reminds me of a slightly greener Tabac Original. Thank you DaveWave for the thoughtful gift!
Classic bridges the stanky chasm between Tabac and Varen, and while we all know intellectually that Tabac is a fougère, Classic offers the opportunity to know it viscerally.
Beaudelaire smells more like a fougère than mousse de saxe to me in isolation, but following it up on Classic, really makes the MdS pop, and I observed a liquorice-like note for the first time. Very nice. The Tabac EdT entering this green stanky scentscape starts out drier, more aromatic than usual.
I know I’m very late to the party, but I’m going to enjoy playing with Classic combinations.
No problem! Figured you’d like this one a lot. To me, the similarity to Tabac Original is very strong. If it’s indeed a resurrection of a 1970s Gillette aftershave, then Gillette copied the homework of Tabac 🤔
