  • 13.10.2024 - Pumpkin Spice is nice

    • Prep: warm water
    • Brush: RazoRock Beehive 28 mm
    • Razor: RazoRock Hawk V2 w/ Superknurl handle
    • Blade: KAI Protouch MG
    • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Samhain
    • Post-Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Samhain AS; moisturizer

-> 2 pass head shave, 1 pass around the beard. A good shave, but unfortunately some skin reactions.

Today was a Sunday that just called for some Pumpkin Spice and Samhain seemed to be a great fit. I know how to lather SW perfectly, so it’s always a good choice for my shave - unfortunately, there seems to be some irritation from the AS now that wasn’t present 2 years ago. Granted, could be that something in the toner denatured despite it still smelling good. Unfortunately, that means one of my absolute favourite scents is now out as an aftershave option.

I did a short dermarolling session after my shave because I want to try it out for my skincare essay. I really just want to include treatments that I’ve tried myself. Despite the redness, it felt pretty okay. Will see if it actually does something for my old acne scars and some of the wrinkles…

  • 10.10.2024 - Guess it’s a Indigo Day

    • Prep: warm water
    • Brush: AP Shave Co. black & clear handle w/ 30 mm Tuxedo Fan knot
    • Razor: Stando Perun
    • Blade: Rapira Platinum Lux
    • Lather: House of Mammoth - Indigo
    • Post-Shave: OAM sensitive skin toner; Phytorelax Aftershave scalp cream

-> 1-pass head shave. Cool and good.

Some soaps are used too rarely by me; HoM Indigo is such a case. While I really love the smokey blueberry scent and like the Tusk base a lot, somehow it’s underutilized. Well, today was one of the days were I finally reached for it again and surely, it didn’t disappoint.

OAM toner really goes well with a lot of different things tbh, the scent is rather versatile. Coupled with the Phytorelax cream it pushed everything in a sweeter direction, but oh well. Everything still feels nice.

4/5 early shifts done. My new colleagues from the new station are rather nice, surprisingly I get along at least on a superficial basis with almost everyone at my workplace. It definitely was one of my best decisions ever to change jobs in the middle of my retraining. However, I am glad when this week is finally over - early shifts leave me constantly tired and with very low energy.

  • 08.10.2024 - Full Measurements

    • Prep: warm water
    • Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir SE 24 mm
    • Razor: Ever-Ready 1912 SE
    • Blade: GEM PTFE
    • Lather: Barrister and Mann - The Full Measure of Man
    • Post-Shave: OAM Oli del benessere sensitive skin toner; Phytorelax Aftershave scalp cream

-> 1-pass head and neck shave. Comfortable and nice scents all around.

Ever get the urge to use something after recommending it to someone? That was the case with me and the OAM aftershave toner today. I chose FMoM as my soap since I expected it to go nicely with it - and I wasn’t disappointed. The dark and dry tobacco of FMoM goes well with the herbal sweet notes of Oli del benessere.

2 of 5 early shifts done and I already feel like a wreck. The new station is not bad, colleagues are rather friendly and interested in showing me things. The residents are way more demanding and unthankful than on my old station though. There are some nice ones among them though and that’s the only thing that matters to me.

  • Yves Rocher (and AFAIK, that’s exclusively for women)

Actually not only for women, they have a small pour homme section … But IMHO, Yves Rocher is not as eco-friendly as they try to market themself as. They often use cheap ingredients like dimethicone and propylene glycol, their peelings also used to contain microplastics (I know since their presence in Germany is huge too and my mom used to be a fan, until we found out about their questionable ingredients).

DM has stated clearly in a message that they don’t consider expanding to the french market as they fear it’d be too risky financially. At least that’s what I found out in my quick research of german-speaking resources. Weird, since Aldi & Lidl are doing pretty well in FRA and I’d definitely see a market for them there.
