Great! The suggestion and voting threads will probably come soon. Our master of ceremonies @PorkButtsNTaters666@sub.wetshaving.social runs a tight ship
Edit: I’m forgetful, ugh. The next one has already been decided as well. It’s Stirling Oro Valley. @walden@sub.wetshaving.social, is it too late for @wtharris89@sub.wetshaving.social to get in?
Probably that too 😬
Le Grand Chypre bad ben on my to-try list for easy to long. The notes sounds super interesting
Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, we have a Buena Vista Wetshaving Social Club meeting. It consists in shaving with the same soap.
We prepare by voting on which soap we want to use well ahead of time and the owner of the winning disk soap sends a sample to each of the participants.
You joined just too late to participate in the October meeting unless you have Narcisse already (it’s on Wednesday), but you’re welcome to join for November!
Welcome to our little corner of the fediverse!
I got this W&B with completely busted scales but otherwise in good condition a couple years ago and fitted it with these pretty Ralf Aust horn scales. Like yesterday’s W&B wedge, this hollow ground has that soft feeling edge. Very nice.
The razor has a 0.1337 radian sharpening angle
We’re doing leet sharpening angles now?
No wonder this thing shaves so well 😊
Yes! Thanks for the reminder!
There’s something soft-feeling about their steel that I really enjoy.
It’s truly amazing how Stirling just keeps standing the test of time 😅
This W&B was my first nice straight razor, and it played a key role in my stumble that ended at the bottom of the straight razor rabbit hole. Still a great shave.
The big 30 mm silver tip feels like a fluffy warm lather pillow.
Luxurious. Just how I like my Sunday shaves.
Thrill of the kill!
That, or we need to attract some creative types to the community🙂
Bing’s insistence on combining shaving-related prompts with beards is puzzling 😅
I woke up this morning and saw that the down payments for Operation Moarteen are rolling in. It feels so good that it has now entered the real phase where we don’t just discuss plans, but things are finally happening 😊
Let me whisper of a dream of Moarch Madness with Moar Boar and Moarteen.
The Bismarck is a great razor. It tries to look fancier than it is (cheap gold wash and plastic scales) which is not something that inspired a sense of quality in me, so I was sceptical when I picked it up at a great price on a local eBay competitor. It has since thoroughly convinced me. The geometry is spot on, the steel takes a nice edge and holds it well, and the big full hollow round point geometry is very comfy.
It’s one of those razors that invites you to change BBS everywhere and doesn’t punish your for it.
asking the real questions!
No, we do not. A lemming with a razor is a tricky prompt. Do you have a good idea?
I’m not sure I follow. I’d have just measured the spine thickness t at the place of hone wear, and the width b from edge to spine hone wear and computed the bevel angle as α= 2 arc sin(b/(2w)), just as the central angle of an isosceles triangle . Is the sharpening angle β = α/2? in that case, I agree that β ≈ sin(β), certainly at the precision I’ll have measuring t, and b.
Thanks!
Not full straight, I suppose, but $FriodomRiders + &HoneMeisterschaft AA, Straightember, and TabOKtoberfest are three consecutive straight razor months, that’s the rules 😅
