    Gamer discourse will only get more confused and contradictory as China inevitably begins dominating the video games industry. Even if, hypothetically, none of their games ever reach mass appeal in the west, it’s only a matter of time before the best available hardware is Chinese.

    I’d like to say it will be fun to watch the chuds grapple with their sinophobia and anti-communism getting in the way of their rabid consumerism, but tbh I think most chuds will just quietly rationalize it and, at best, rant less about China. Maybe we’ll even get some cursed synthesis like “China is only good because they’re anti-woke!”

      Actually I assume the second Chinese CPUs and GPUs become a competitive threat to Intel and AMD, they will be tariffed to hell. But unlike Chinese EVs, gamers would largely know what they’re missing out on, as benchmarks are easy to share. I wonder how they’ll handle knowing they can’t max their framerates due to huge tariffs or maybe even complete bans 🤔

        There’s precedent for Chinese companies spinning up a subsidiary in someplace like Vietnam in order to sell their stuff in America, so maybe we’ll see more of that in the future.
