Xmas Eve at 6:25pm, looking NW. Very short rainbow.
Contacting all those with meteorological knowledge on Lemmy. I have never seen this before and want your best info about what it might be.
The best guesses I’ve got are localised rain, earthquake lights or a part of a sun-dog.
It’s called a Sun Dog and is the result of sunlight retracting off high altitude clouds.

Been a bunch in the UK recently
Looks like that is the name for it.
Thanks for the detail. Seems they are around WA too.
Extra info: look in the middle of the picture.
Plus some extra photos:
It was not a reflection on the window. Seen in the clouds for a minute and a half.
It’s the Enterprise in disguise.
Definitely a sun-dog. You can usually see one on the opposite side too.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I didn’t realise we can get Sun Dogs showing in Perth.
It is in the expected position for a Sun Dog. That is the sun on the left of the first picture.
I used to see pretty vivid ones from my 10 years living in edmonton, Alberta. Temp below zero with some fog like precipitation would make pretty intense ones.
