I guess there’s the off chance we make the playoffs and Smith is fired but I highly doubt that. I also know Cousins has been a popular topic around here but we need a long term solution in my opinion.
Why does making the playoffs even matter for these options honestly? We aren’t going anywhere and I’d take a higher pick, and draft a QB and then see if Smith can coach a real prospect.
Trying to go another season with Ridder as the starter would be a fireable offense in itself. That said there’s zero way Smith could possibly stay here and feel safe running it back any QB on our roster.
Who could be QB is up in the air, we’ll see what happens if he Smith does stay in Atlanta next year.
I think you’re missing one… falcons MAKE playoffs, RETAIN AS, and START a new QB next year
You don’t have it on here but Make the playoffs, ridder becomes backup, and Smith gets one more year to see how he does with a decent QB
This is my preferred outcome as well.
Nope, hate letting a regime on their way out the door pick the next franchise QB. It happens all the time and never works out.
Ideally, we make the playoffs, while Ridder and Arthur Smith look great doing it.
A losing record, even if they make the playoffs, is unacceptable when it comes to retaining Smith — although Mr. Blank probably disagrees.
Ridder is fine to stay as a backup no matter happens.
We make playoffs because our division and schedule is laughably easy. We retain Artie who continues to misuse highly talented high draft capital players with his silly scheme and playcalling. We draft Oline or WR/TE(who will decoy and block) in 1st Rd. We have Tannehill/Ridder/Heinicke training camp battle and continue to be mid for another year wasting our window to utilize our recent skill position top picks until we either resign them for huge money or start to lose them in FA. This is the likely outcome.
