I didn’t mean to ignore the important role America plays in spreading queer hate around the world too! Israel just plays a special role in this conflict.
Faith and culture arise from the material conditions of society. The way religion is interpreted and the form culture takes are shaped by economics, politics, and other base structures.
There’s a reason Christianity is so different in different countries and time periods, even though the book never changes.
But why are they preaching hate? They all preach from the same book, yet some preach hate and some preach compassion. You have to grapple with what makes the same religion different in different places and different times, and that comes down to the material conditions of society.
North Africa and West Asia, the places where the countries which are majority Muslim, are all under imperialist domination. Either they are oppressed by pro-lgbt countries like the US or France, or their anti-lgbt government is being propped up geopolitically for oil and trade. There’s a context to this you are ignoring. That’s where the majority of Muslims live, that’s where the seats of their religious institutions are, that’s where Mecca is, so that has an effect on the religion itself.

Islam isn’t that different all over the world in this subject though.
