In the live thread on worldnews there are tweets citing US officials denying that they were informed ahead of time
“As a Lebanese, I think we can all agree we’ll be better off when Hezbollah is finally defeated and we are part of Israel” -
Hezbollah is finished! Nothing ever happens! Iran should surrender now!
if you go into the Lebanon sub on every thread is full of people talking about how Hezbollah is an embarrassment and Israel has just won this war, and if you check their post histories every single person making those comments is either american or israeli lmao
I’m not especially hopeful regarding the success of DFO rebuilding plans based on a lot of experience working closely with stocks that have been managed under rebuilding plans for decades now with nothing to show for it. This is definitely a step in the right direction compared to the traditional (aka very problematic) way that DFO approaches indigenous fishing rights and fisheries management though, and between a hatchery that will likely use local broodstock to supplement wild fish and the state of habitat on the north BC coast compared to areas further south this could definitely turn out much better.
NPR was interviewing some turbolib think tank guy who actually said something that made some sense (despite talking about how Iran was a military failure that had no chance of retaliating against Israel because 99% of the April strike was shot down). He compared the Kursk incursion to the battle of the bulge as a desparate last-ditch offensive that is basically spending whatever experienced troops Ukraine has left to grab what they can in order to give it up as part of a peace settlement in an area of the front line where they were more likely to be able to gain more ground regardless of its strategic value
I can’t do this anymore boss
KKKhamas rejects the “bridging proposal” put forward by the U.S.
Wow how could the evil terrorist organization reject such a fair proposal? All it would have required of them was accepting permanent control of the Egypt-Gaza border by the IDF and having the rest of Gaza indefinitely bisected by an occupied corridor that would definitely not become a permanent occupation that prevents movement between the north and south of Gaza
Thanks! Yeah its absurd to have these negotiations without one of the parties that has to agree to anything
source? all the news I can find is saying the opposite (negotiations have been “constructive” and will continue)
I’ve unfortunately had to fly a ton this summer for various reasons and I’ve pretty much resigned myself to being the only person on the plane wearing a mask anymore. Of course that didn’t help me when I ended up getting it from a doctor who showed up maskless and very obviously sick to a social event that I foolishly assumed would be safe (outdoors and all doctors who presumably should know better)…
i would say 90% of my irl liberal friends have not mentioned Palestine once since Biden dropped out after being pretty consistent about it for months now. Kamala Harris is the perfect blank slate candidate for vibes-based politics because you can just pretend she supports all the causes you pay lip service to as long as she delays taking a firm stance on anything (other than going to the right of republicans on immigration…)
it has to take effort to make a seafood boil of all things look this bland
its not a post-2016 election without weird fanfic tweets born out of liberals’ parasocial obsession with the most milquetoast politicians imaginable
Isn’t there someone you forgot to ask?
“otherwise I’m speaking” is going to be the new “nevertheless she persisted”/“nasty woman” soundbite for libs, someone quick make a t shirt to sell
