Legendary Edition sounds good. ME2 is my favourite so not sure whether to start there or invest the 30 hours in playing ME1 first though.
The combat has been improved in ME1 if that helps. The combat HUD is redesigned to be similar to ME3. Getting into cover during combat is easier, although getting into cover on accident when you want to run past something also happens a lot. Lots of cooldowns have been reduced.
Bunch of QoL added as well. Sprinting on the Citadel, mark gear as junk for quick sell, sorting your inventory.
Exalted March on YouTube does an incredible job talking about the 3 games in the LE. The title is certainly click baity, but he explains out the gate that he’s not trashing ME2, he loves ME2, he’s just trying to point out how great ME1 and 3 are and comparing them together again with the LE release. I think he pulls it off very well.
