Playing Cyberpunk 2077, got to the Panam missions and it’s starting to feel really fun. I think the character side quest chains are the best part of the game.

I played Zelda TOTK for like an hour and haven’t gone back to it. I dunno why since it was so hyped, it just didn’t blow me away…

Thinking of starting either Alyx, Xenoblade X or 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Almost spoiled for choice really.

I think you have to temper your expectations for Zelda games since the fanbase loves hyperbole. Personally, I do think they are great games, but Nintendo hasn’t really improved the formula since A Link to the Past, and that one is thirty years old now.

BOTW made such huge changes to the Zelda formula though! Why do you say that?

Truthfully, I haven’t played BotW, so I don’t really know how it stacks up to ALttP, but I’m a tired, old curmudgeon, so I can’t see it being more enjoyable. ALttP is just such a concise, well-designed game without an inch of wasted space. At a cursory glance, BotW looks like it suffers from open world bloat and performance issues.

If you’re thinking it’s one of those “walk around to the next dot on the map” / “collectathon” type games, it’s definitely not. BotW was praised for changing the stale open world formula so that the world and exploring the world IS the game, and it’s extremely fun. You never know what you’re going to find. IMO, it captures a lot of the charm of what makes Zelda great. The world is big but none of it is wasted or generic. It’s well designed. You probably won’t like the dungeons though :)

I replayed LttP last year and I think it holds up pretty well for how old it is.

I do like TotK, but it’s just not what I’m looking for in a game right now. Also because I should get a different controller. Playing on the regular Switch controllers sucks.
