Hi,
I noticed that the sole mod of this community seems to be an inactive account.
Although this community is very civilised, I wonder if a) there should be another mod from an active account, or b) we have the power to add a mod.
I don’t think we can add a mod (except for instance admins). The scariest thing about the setup on lemmy is that when the account that created the community gets deleted, the whole community with all its contributions disappears immediately. Even if there are additional mods.
Woah!
@qua Are you still around? We’re discussing the potential need to transfer ownership of the !fountainpens@lemmy.world community.
I think we can say they are inactive…
Agreed. Are you interested in being a mod? I’m willing to take on the role.
How many do you reckon we need?
I’d be happy to, but there are probably people who have contributed more than me.
3 seems like a good number, but technically 0 has been sufficient up to this point 🤣
I think we want some redundancy if possible.
Agreed
Anyone know how you find the admins of lemmy.world?
We should be able to get by with one mod. We’re small enough that it takes less than five minutes to read every new comment on a busy day. Besides, the community here is laid back. I’ve been solo mod of the Calculator community for a year or so. I still have not yet needed to even mention the rules, let alone actually moderate anything.
You’ve been actively trying to build the community more than anybody, vext01. You have my vote for mod!
We can’t, but the instance admins can. I was directly solicited by an admin to mod one community, and I was made a mod of another simply by dint of being basically the only poster there (go on, guess which one) so it’s possible if we message the admins.
Ok, let’s give the current mod some time to respond, in case they are now just a lurker.
You can go to the Lemmy.World support community and request it.
