People publish bullshit videos rambling about how gaming is dead or dying or not fun anymore whatever bullshit. I argue that these types of videos are far more dangerous specifically because it encourages gamers to simply give up as opposed to pointing out problems and pushing back against what is ruining the game. I’ve seen this happen with Halo Infinite, and CoD Mobile where not enough people pushed back against problems with those games.
Doomerism is just another way to get people to accept terrible practices. And most of them miss the actual root causes of issues.
Which is the point of my post. If you keep publishing Halo/X franchise is dead videos you have no right to say “343/x Studio is still milking the franchise because no one pushed back against them”. You encouraged them to quit, now they can’t push back. Batakanta was 110% in the right when he said people who publish gaming is dead videos are just bored of the hobby.
I think a big chunk of the ‘gaming isn’t fun like it used to be’ editorials are just people experiencing depression for the first time. So much of the description of how they are feeling about gaming matches with the sensation of having depression eat a hobby.
