minus-squareScrubbles@poptalk.scrubbles.techlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up10·5 months agoSo, anyone know a good is/rom to flash on my shield? I use 99% Plex and jellyfin
minus-squaremagiccupcake@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up3·5 months agoNot for the shield, but there’s a Chinese device, Ugoos am6b+, that you can install coreelec on. Coreelec is a linux os designed to run kodi, add a plex add on and it can play almost anything. Any dolby vision profile, including the one that can usually only be played on bluray players. Any audio including TrueHD, dolby atmos, and DTS. Sucks for streaming apps sadly, so you’d have to get another device like Apple TV or something.

minus-squareozymandias117@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·5 months agoNetflix is limited to 720p on Linux due to the DRM they use… maybe OP was confused because of that?
minus-squaremagiccupcake@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up4·5 months agoI wasn’t recommending it for that? I said that it wouldn’t be good for streaming apps, like Netflix, and the previous comment was asking about Plex specifically.
