Clickbait title. Dumb idea to put wax paper on the top of your fridge to fix a problem that isn’t really a problem. Might actually create more problems than it solves due to wax. Website covered in ads that asks me to disable my ad block. Article is a rehash of the actual original article with another anti-adblock banner. Obvious product placement is obvious.

2/10 link at least it’s not malware and it was posted on Lemmy so there’s your two points.

Dust and kitchen greasy-ness is easier to clean by changing the paper than by scrubbing the hard to reach places…

      Eh? I guess? But still…

They tell you to put wax paper on top of your fridge and kitchen cabinets, and throw it away when it gets dirty instead of cleaning.

          Yep.

There are times and places for this kind of idea. Maybe covering the tops of cabinets because that material is porous… But why not just paint the porous wood instead? Do it once, and if you use a gloss oil base paint, it’ll never need repainting and it’s easy to clean.

Because it just wastes wax paper, which, being waxy, attracts dirt and dust. A nice little breeding ground.

How hard is it to wipe the top of a fridge with a wet cloth and a couple shots of degreasing spray? I buy degreaser (Super Clean) by the gallon ($10), make my own diluted spray. That gallon lasts years, and works better than the expensive stuff.

Using wax or parchment for a tray that catches grease under something makes sense - then you just ball up the paper and pitch it, rather than waste gallons of hot water trying to clean the tray.

These kinds of people should work in a restaurant for a while, see what’s involved in properly cleaning/maintaining a kitchen.
