I suggest you read the article on Taliban for a start. Mujahideen fighters were a diverse group. What afterwards became Taliban was one part, but so were what became some of their enemies.

They did have some not so great time trying to prevent Taliban from gaining power. It wasn’t very succesful.
And of course the Taliban itself is what the CIA turned Mujahideen into.
No, that’s on Afghans themselves. US armed the mujahideen fighters and a faction of that diverse group later on formed Taliban (and their opposition)
