I’ll go first: playing with other people in multiplayer who are geographically close to you would be very fun.

Most games Got ruined by doing so. Fall guys was so fun, then it became “free to play” and you had to purchase a battle pass in order to get skins.

Yeah but even with the free battle pass you can still get some cool stuff.

I will say they’ve improved their system. It’s now gotten to a point that if you play to a certain level on the pass, you’ll have enough show bucks to buy it outright anyway.

Yeah but you have to purchase it once and then play it always. You can’t just casually play a few games, no. You then have to keep the streak going to afford the next pass and so on.

How does that make it less fun? Having skins doesn’t affect the gameplay. It just makes it so more people can play and if you want to support the developers you can get something for it

If cosmetic options didn’t enhance the player experience, they wouldn’t be sold as microtransactions.

That’s because people assign significance to how others perceive them in game. It’s like Yeezys costing so much just so you can show off your expensive shoes. But at least there we have some concept of limited supply and scarcity, even if it’s artificial.

This is one where I side with the people selling the cosmetics. Players only want the 20 dollar skin to show other players they bought the 20 dollar skin. If people want to buy that, I can’t fault someone for selling it.

Before free to play you could get the skins by winning games. Now you just purchase a skin for money and feel happy. That’s dumb

So getting skins by itself is less fun, but also the fact that winning games doesn’t give as much of an reward is even less fun. It’s like doubly less fun

This is always such a lame argument. For many players, skins and cosmetics are the motivation to play and the more of them there are locked behind pay walls the less motivation you have as a player.

When you make this kind of argument can you just stop and think for a moment that maybe not everyone thinks like you do? You might not care about cosmetics, but clearly many players do otherwise they wouldn’t be so heavily monetized in the first place.
