Hey!

Im not very clued up on these things so bare with me 😊

My main router is in my living room (no other options for placement), and I game on console upstairs. The console and the router are on opposite sides of the house. I find that my wireless connection to my Xbox is often terrible when playing and want to improve it.

Given the distance between router and console, using an Ethernet cable isn’t really an option, and therefore my question is what would be the next best option to improve gaming speeds?

Thanks!

We have a Fibrenest router, provided by the ISP (Fibrenest). I’m in the Uk and they have monopolised the estate with no access to other ISPs. Due to this I have no idea how other routers would work on their set up. They’re a pain in the arse. I’m also not technical so most of this stuff goes over my head.

We’re in a house that’s only 4 years old, so walls should be thin and internal walls are not brick.

No chance of wiring from the router to the console - it’s too far and potentially a hazard for our young children
