        The problem is that eventually, they’ll get someone that just won’t reach across the isle, assuming that this guy isn’t himself the one.

                The traitor caucus doesn’t give a flying fuck about other Republicans’ electoral chances. Real damage is done both to all the things managed by the federal government and to the federal workforce itself (in terms of attrition and lower morale) every time the government shuts down. That harm is, in their warped, traitorous worldview, a win.
