A planned pro-Palestine rally in Times Square by New York’s chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America has drawn the ire of elected officials.

People need to understand a few things, which seem to need to be repeated every time the US media chooses to cover something Hamas did, while failing to cover the atrocities carried out against Palestinians by the Israeli state.

1: you can be pro-Palestinian without being pro-Hamas

2: you can be anti-Israel without being antisemitic

I don’t have a very educated opinion but tend to be pro-Palestine.

I just know most pro-Israel people I meet are even less educated on the matter and just cheer Israel because they’re “supposed to.”

That being said, I welcome suggestions on reading material to be less dumb about it lol.

This right here! Also that have news channels to report what is done to them. Palestinians record things in their phone but can’t get the message out

you can be anti-Israel without being antisemitic

The media tend to promote the narrative that the Palestinian struggle is inherently antisemitic. They offer very limited information about any liberatory factions that depart from the characterization of being hateful toward Jews.

Many defend Israel based on an assumption of its Jewish inhabitants facing an existential threat.

Based on information from mainstream outlets, there is little reason to doubt it.

Even so, do you think most are up for making this distinction instead of thinking you’re pro-Hamas if you come out rallying with Palestinian flags today?

If there’s anything I know it’s Republicans and Democrats will unify to thwart any progressive momentum and then turn back on each other when the ‘threat’ is done with. The media will eat the slop up and more morons will believe that Nazi Germany actually was good.

Re point #1, it seems like a lot of people think that Hamas is Palestinian resistance and Palestinian resistance is Hamas. That couldn’t be farther from the truth, but it’s only too convenient for Israel boosters that Hamas is the most visible. That didn’t used to be the case. There are a lot of groups and schools of thought that fall work towards Palestinian liberation.
