@Knoll0114@lemmy.world Only for #Lemmy instances, or are you open for the entire #Fediverse ( #ActivityPub ) network?
I have these in my own list:
- comics@a.gup.pe
- comics@chirp.social
- webcomics@a.gup.pe
- webtoons@a.gup.pe
- books@a.gup.pe
- books@chirp.social
- books@lemmy.ml
- bookstodon@a.gup.pe – #1 most active in the entire fediverse
- literature@beehaw.org
- writers@a.gup.pe
@GameWiz@lemmy.world Regardless, it doesn’t really matter.
Are you guys from the /r/philippines subreddit and trying to find a new home? Or, you just want to start a new #Philippines community in the #fediverse network?
If it is the latter, then we already have well-established communities like @pinoy@chirp.social @philippines@a.gup.pe @pilipinas@lemmy.ml _
So, keeping @philippines@lemmy.world is perfectly fine, you don’t really have to move. The more communities we have in other instances, the better. Redundancy and continuity.
It means that, if one community hosted in a different instance goes offline (temporarily or permanently), the other Philippines communities in other instances are still intact. Those affected can move to the other existing communities. It happened before (an instance went offline, temporarily) and it almost happened again (permanently).
However, if you are the /r/philippines subreddit, since you have an existing community you are migrating over to the fediverse, then yes, choose the instance you want to be hosted on. One where you can get a guarantee that they will do everything they can to stay online for the next 20 years. Otherwise, you risk breaking the community if the instance suddenly goes offline.
Does that make any sense? _
For me, strictly about features, go for #Kbin. _
@teroshan@mastodon.social True that. Hopefully it will come. I want to remove my reliance on Goodreads since I’m not using it other than to track. And the authors I follow are more active outside of Goodreads. 😅 (Some are even here on the fediverse network.)
@Deebster@beehaw.org I used to use #Anobii as well, it was far better than #Goodreads in its early days, unfortunately, the latter overtook them. Now, most of my shelves are on Goodreads.
You can go self-hosting mode. You can self-host #BookWyrm, or the traditional, ever reliable, #Calibre. _ I no longer use Calibre because Goodreads.
On the BookWyrm side of things, it can import your books from Goodreads.

Before anything else, IANAL and TINLA.
The #Philippines, like South #Korea, have a law that “exempts a family who commit theft, swindling and malicious mischief from criminal liability exists”.
You can read more about it here: https://attorney.org.ph/legal-news/53-strange-laws-you-never-knew-existed-part-12-of-15-family-members-who-commit-theft-are-not-criminally-liable
This is probably what the police meant. Though, should have been still liable for civil.
Or, maybe, there is an IRR that states anything under a certain amount + it falls under this exemption, is indeed not qualified even if only for civil.
I think, the idea behind it is to encourage it being solved within the family instead of the family unit being destroyed because family members and relatives are filing cases against each other.
Again, IANAL and TINLA.
