To really make you feel better, DV and other forms of abuse would likely decrease significantly under communism because the power dynamics of relationships would change significantly. Not to say it wouldn’t still exist to an extent but there’s a lot to be said of using money to make someone feel trapped.

Especially when there’s already two indigenous communities, one on Lemmygrad (which would be strictly ML lens) and one on Hexbear (which is a bit more left unity but still Decolonial, anti imperial, etc) the Hexbear one being about 5x more populous but features some solid comrades I know from some other decolonial groups outside of Lemmy.

I definitely said absolutely horrific and racist comments when I was younger, because of the environment I’d grown up in and lived in at the time, but I never committed active genocide against the indigenous population (well, outside of existing as a white male in the imperial core). These soldiers of the IOF deserve zero sympathy if they’re killing Palestinians instead of defecting immediately.

Personally, I found the framing on some of their questions a bit off-putting. I can’t nail down why but when I looked through their post history it didn’t quite feel right. It could just be that they’re a terminally online western leftist who is still learning, as I was only too recently, or it could be something nefarious. Either way, I personally blocked the account, just because it felt like the safe way to handle it for me.

The short version of the answer, that someone far more articulate than me can explain better is: in the USA, we’re fed the line “America #1 best nation” from the minute we’re born until the day we die, from any of the following list: parents, teachers, preachers, TV, movies, etc. Years and years of that tends to take deep roots, especially before the internet made it easier and easier to spread reality far enough to break through the American propaganda noise.

Not to mention that Lenin greatly expanded on these points anyway in State and Revolution in a way that proves Marx and Engels correct anyway, though I do wonder if the person you’re referring to has managed to read and purposely misunderstand that, too.
