What’s your rig look like now?
What’s your rig look like now?
I’ll argue it was still his first try because he didn’t stop trying
No one buys the excuse, ‘I look like shit because I’m so busy working’
I liked the idea of long hair but was never completely happy with mine. I felt like it was curly in the wrong way and just felt like a lot of work to maintain for someone that didn’t want to put the effort in.
I got my hair cut and beard trimmed today so I look normal. My dad was always telling me to get it cut and there’s too much at stake, so I don’t want anything being a potential obstacle to another job.
And I think I might look alright? I’ve lost some hair and pretty much always had it tied back, so I’m not sure if I’d grow it out again when shit gets stable
I watched the sequel to OSS set in Cairo and it was a fun movie. Kind of like a French Austin Powers but a bit edgier on everything but the sex side
We went to a book fair and picked up some DVDs and vhs as well. I think it’s time to get the boys into physical media. They can bring us wiggles DVDs to watch instead of us just going on YouTube
One thing I’m becoming a Luddite about is writing things down more. There are some songs on guitar I can play if I play along to the tab, but I just haven’t been able to memorise.
I’ve written down the passages with the first chord as reference and I can play by myself a lot better now.
I used to have a folder with print offs of songs. I stopped doing that when I moved to Melbourne because I didn’t have the space or a printer.
By writing things down I can summarise passages of songs, then do the same thing for the structure, then I could just use the song name as a prompt and play the whole thing. I should have done this years ago
I was thinking I’d call the contact person that would be the manager of the role. I’ll wait until the middle of the week and I can use that time to draft what I’d present to them
That sucks to hear, and it sucks all three of those are kind of tied together so when one gets worse they all do
What’s the etiquette around calling about a job after it closes? I put in for a job I really want and it closed today.
I’ll bedamned if I leave it in god’s hands from here. Do I call on Monday mentioning I have some ideas I’d like to put in a presentation if I get an interview? Something to tease their curiosity a bit?
Brave is Chromium based so it might be resource hungry as well. Librewolf is Firefox based with more privacy built in, you might be able to get some mileage out of that
I’m more excited to have my spring back. I started around this time last year and things were so much easier. I picked my kids up early from childcare and took them to a park before home. I’d like to do that again a few times before I start something else
That was my problem, I didn’t get on the job hunt seriously soon enough. I thought I could get through it, started looking at jobs, had some interviews that didn’t go anywhere, and didn’t pick it up as much until the last meeting. I’m getting the standard 2 weeks pay so if I can pick up an immediate start contract I might be able to coast for a bit
I’ll try make the most of it. I can go on centrelink through my business and I can go into job application overdrive now
A recruiter I’ve worked with before has a contract role that’s the exact thing I’m looking for. These roles are always an immediate start so things may just work out. And to think how grateful I’ll be to the first place that takes me after all this
This whole year sucked for me work wise. I had a stressful project at the start of the year. Then I was facing a redundancy, then I’ve been going through this for the past 9 weeks. It’s been so stressful, I’m just glad it’s over
They brought the meeting forward to today and I’ve been terminated. I’m just glad it’s over
For the metal heads in here, a new Blood Incantation album just dropped. It incorporates their prog elements with their metal side of things really well. First impressions are I really like it and it just might be my album of the year.
Before Uber we used to have real taxi drivers that had those roller bead things hanging on their seats
