Nothing is going to happen to social security, at least for the old people. If you’re in your 30s or less, it might not exist by the time you’re eligible, but that has little to do with trump.

The people that supported trump were always going to support him and be energized to vote. That’s a big part of why focusing on his lies was such a waste of time, it wasn’t going to change any minds. Winning elections is about motivating your base, undecided voters are a wash and opposing voters aren’t likely to massively shift.

Fumbling what should have been a cupcake question to talk about a major campaign promise is inexcusable.

10s of Thousands of people motivated by not getting a week or so of pay because you couldn’t get your act together is bad for reelection prospects.

The popular vote has been the moral victory of the Democrat party since 2000.

They could have distanced themselves from the current administration though. They could have acknowledged that inflation has fucked most people, and be far more direct about addressing it than vague price gouging investigations that should be happening now. They could have come out in favor of any and every union striking. They could have had policies to guarantee profit sharing or granting equity. They could have made the totally empty promise of fighting for main street and not wall street.

If you can’t come up with a single sound bite if what makes you better than a fascist, that’s on you.

It’s absolutely a problem if in a single election cycle you go from 60-70% support to just over 50%. In tight elections like the last few that is a losing formula. Especially for Latinos who are the fastest growing minority. If Republicans keep this up they could be getting almost 60% of that vote in 2024, and Democrats are suddenly the ones facing irrelevance based on voter demographics.

Michigan voted trump and a Democrat woman, slotkin, senator this election.

So long as you have some savings, a government shutdown is more a vacation than anything. Back pay has always been given to employees.

Or republicans compromised on losing an immigration bill to win the presidency.

Imagine the blown minds of future pows when they get better rations as a prisoner.

Jungle primaries are great to reduce the power of nonmajority parties. If you have a primary with 4 Democrat and 4 Republican candidates, the winners will tend to be the 4 from the majority party as all votes get split relatively even. This leaves the minority party with no candidate in the general election.

The results aren’t showing that though. They are showing a large amount of Democrat voters just stayed on the couch. Trump didn’t get more votes than 2020, all that was needed was an energized democratic base.

Maybe it’s time to start focusing on reasons to vote for a candidate instead of against one. Trump got less votes than 2020 and won.

Depends on the part of the project. Some of it absolutely will. Some of it definitely won’t.

Many things would require Congress to approve, and it’s unlikely those that have to face reelection would just go for it.

Whether you have binders full of women, baskets of deplorables, or garbage, it ends badly for you.

Which parts exactly? The dnc decided not to do a real primary and run a deeply unpopular president. It obviously exploded leaving them with nothing. They then tagged the vice president as the only option, despite her being the least popular candidate the last time a real primary happened.

They were the party actively suppressing democracy while accusing their opponent of being against democracy.

They haven’t done any outreach to the working class in decades. They just count on unions unconditional support, just like the minority vote. Trump made massive gains in those areas.

They ran in the economy being just fine when is was apparent the 20% cumulative inflation fucked everyone that wasn’t rich or able to job hop several times in the last few years.
