Est-ce qu’il faudrait quand même défédérer de notre côté, par prudence ? On ne sait jamais, ces gens-là ont tendance à vouloir recréer leurs anciens empires par la force.
I try to contribute to things getting better, sometimes through polite rational skepticism.
Disagreeing with your comment ≠ supporting the opposite side, I support rationality.
Let’s discuss to refine the arguments that make things better sustainably.
Always happy to question our beliefs.

If they join another instance, they will not benefit from as much local support, the social pressure will eventually discourage them, and they will probably just go back to using only their local bubble.
“reactionay” = going against their tankie ideology.
Eventually, it’s a good thing they decide to delist the instance (while jlailu is discussing it too), it will reduce useless conflicts.
It’s more easily expressed when people don’t have to directly face the sensitivity of the other humans. For example, from inside a car, in an online competitive game or an online forum.
What’s the heat stress difference between idle/off and heavy-usage/idle for a PC? If the latter is much bigger, then turning it off may have a negligible impact while still saving some energy. Avoiding heavy-usage may also be a better solution than avoiding turning it off.

And the next year the t-shirt is expired because the player changed number or club, ka-ching! It’s like the football video games, they can sell the same low quality goods every year by just claiming that they updated the teams.
The funny thing is that the rich people know that those are 2nd class luxury. The real luxury clothes do not have big logos, they are made with expensive materials like silk, cashmere and other expensive hand crafted fabrics that most people can only afford exceptionally. Most Luxury brand sold their soul for profits by creating those 2nd class that wanna-look rich people can afford, but they still sell their actually valuable products to actually rich clients, without big logos.
P.S.: those 2nd class luxury are made in the same Asian sweatshops as the fast fashion like H&M, while real luxury are made by highly skilled workers, usually in Western countries.
Some Hexbear users wished to some French instances users to get more Charlie Hebdo events.
No need to go right actually, even defending social democrate values may attract intolerant leftists on some instances.
My point is that there is a infinity of nuance between the far left and trumpist, but too many extreme leftists tend to consider anything right of them as far right, therefore forbidding discussion that doesn’t 100% go their preferred way. This is part of what makes a big chunk of Lemmy unwelcoming.
Agreed, basically if you are moderate, you have to block 2 or 3 major instances to escape from extremist content. That’s very unwelcoming for new users.
What a perfect example of what the top comment meant. “You either 100% agree with us or you are a trumpist/fascist/nazi”, no in-between, no nuance, no moderation allowed.
The default web interface is very poorly designed and looks uninviting.
Disagree. I find it rather clean and functional, even on mobile. Maybe because I liked old reddit. Maybe younger people are used to Instagram-like feeds so they don’t like the compact forum style.
Où est-ce que tu vois facilement l’information sur la fédération ?
