My friends and a lot of my coworkers I were Bernie supporters in 2016 – donated, attended events, etc. I made sure I was registered to vote and strongly encouraged my friends to as well. Talking to them after the primary was depressing as fuck … most of them didn’t vote, and had the lamest excuses you could imagine. It was eye opening.

Alright: whatever. Great work guys, now we get to vote for Hillary, since it was going to be either her or Trump as president. Shockingly almost none of the aforementioned friends/coworkers voted for her, and several that admitted they couldn’t get off their asses to vote for him in the primary complained about how it was “stolen” from Bernie.

It was hard not slapping the shit out of them.

  • The idea of shooting any round at someone and expecting to “just wound them” is absurd, but .223/5.56 is definitely in the range of “reliably fatal if applied to the chest or head” .

It might not be a “big boy round” but it’s still a rifle round – if wasn’t powerful enough to reliably “incapacitate” (i.e. kill) a human being at 100 yards the world’s militaries wouldn’t still be using after 40+ years.

    collapse

Yeah … it almost certainly won’t. The world’s largest economy and millitary will still be unmatched, except now they’re under the control of mask-off christofascists. They’re evil, but unfortunately they’re not stupid.

Everyone in the free world will be in for a bad time to varying degrees. I can promise you the new regime won’t be isolationists.

  • Because at some point society decided to call them refrigerators or AC. The thing *inside the refrigerator or air conditioner" that makes it work is called a “heat pump” – that’s the unambiguous name of the device. Just like the bit inside a car that provides motive force is called the “engine” or the “motor”.

The device that uses a heat pump to both heat and cool a building is actually called an Air source heat pump, but since that’s a mouthful most people simply call it a “heat pump” to distinguish it from traditional AC that only works to cool an area. Sure, maybe you get that odd area the calls it something different (my region calls soft drinks “pop”) but that’s not the norm.
