Not communist, not capitalist, just forward
This is a great question to ask on lemmygrad.ml/c/genzhou , or a few other places. There’s also already a lot of good threads on that already too.
As a super-short answer: Not all capitalist countries are equal: in fact, most of them are poor, and being exploited by the imperial-core capitalist countries, namely those who use their favorable position in the world market as monopsonies to dictate labor conditions, wages, and policy to the poorer, surplus-value producing nations of the global south.
Russia, like most capitalist countries, is not part of that elite minority that use finance capital to exploit other nations. Like Syria, Venezuela, Bolivia, and many other countries, they’re exerting some intolerable independent behavior, and found themselves in military opposition to the imperialist bloc.

Bullying makes it seem like its happening only in a school playground, and doesn’t even hint at the amount of discrimination they face.
Trans ppl face high levels of sexual assault, hate crimes, exclusion from family, lack of support networks, economic hardship from not being able to get hired, medical discrimination, societal discrimination, and a whole lot more.
Hickel mentions this parable in the book, The Divide
You see someone floating down a torrential river, screaming for help, afraid of drowning. You dive into the river, and using all your strength, swim to them and carry them to the bank. You’re entirely exhausted, but you feel great that you saved someone’s life.
Then you see another person floating down the river screaming. You use your last remaining ounces of energy to save this second person.
Then it happens again, a third person floats down. You realize it will keep happening; there aren’t enough of you to save everyone, and you need to decide where to spend your energy.
Do you spend it continually exhausting yourself saving each individual person? Or would a better use of your time, be to find out where and why people are falling into the river, and stop the problem at its source.
Serving the people is of course important, but if that aid is not a long-term solution, but a band-aid, then its not going to solve anything. Better to analyze and focus on the root problem.

Nothing you’ve said justifies the killings of Japanese grandmothers and schoolchildren, which the US was happy to do, to scare the USSR. These were civilian, not military targets.

Look at where H&M or IKEA have most of their factories. Super-exploited wage workers in the global south are funding (via a tax on imports of products they produced) the nordic welfare states.

The nordic model is not sustainable, and the same thing is currently happening to it (privatization and gutting) as happened to the US after FDR’s new deal.
Not to mention the fact that welfare in these nordic states are mostly funded off the backs of workers in the global south, as taxes on imports from products produced by those poorly paid southern labor. Take a look at where most of the factories for H&M or Ikea are located for example.
As long as we leave capitalists in power, this exploitation will only continue to increase.
Those “western countries” you’re referring to, are not democracies, its more accurate to call them capitalist dictatorships.
Capitalists stand above and control the political system, stack candidates to those who’ve proven themselves to be good little capitalists puppets, and own the organs of media and limit public discussion to pro-capitalist talking points.
True leftists reject violence in all forms. It is coercion. It is evil. End of story.
Anyone on here advocating for violence deaerves to be labeled for what they are: part of the problem with the world today.
There’s no need to “one-true-leftist” us here, especially since the major branches of leftism (Marxism and most branches of Anarchism), are all pretty much agreed that pacifism doesn’t work, and is a strategy promoted by capitalists and petit-bourgeois idealists to quell dissent.
