Hi :)
I use restic. For local backups, Timeshift.
I wouldn’t feel bad if the money was going to the developer, but it’s going to reddit for a cut-down API with no NSFW. No thanks.
Business Insider reports on “Reddit’s falling IPO valuation” already.
Good.
Backups can and should be encrypted.
Oh…why didn’t I think this…
I did that, but not “fuck u/spez” because that might get the comment deleted altogether making the edit meaningless. Instead I edited to say the comments been deleted in protest against the API changes.
All of the r/ImaginaryNetwork subs. Plus r/DataHoarder, r/Selfhosted
I was using Brave until last month. They did something and now image search redirects to Google/Bing so might as well use Google I guess…
Oh and also the normal search results got really bad all of a sudden.
They removed Aaron from the list of founders at some point.
I just checked all and popular, the top posts are all about the blackout. It did feel a bit empty, which is good.
It’d be nice if Sync, RiF and others supported Lemmy.
The only reason I have the app installed is to follow artists that only post on twitter and even then this guy shows up on my feed.
YouTube. It will be a real loss because I doubt even Archiveteam could backup all the useful YT videos.
I already edited my reddit submissions to something along the lines of “this has been deleted in protest against API…” using PowerDeleteSuite. Some of my past comments has useful information in them and people might end up there via google. I’m taking my data with me when I walk out.
Did you do it manually for each comment or use some sort of automation tool?
They’ll kill it off eventually. old.reddit is on the chopping block next.
I wanted you to know, I checked your username after I read your comment and it made me laugh.
