  • Yeah, this grinds my gears. I use to comment my code when I’m working on my personal projects, then at the office I have to waste time trying to decipher my boss’s code because he won’t comment absolutely anything.

That plus the ridiculous deadlines means that I don’t have time to comment my own code, fast forward several months later without working on a particular project and now I have to decipher his and my own code.

One day he actually had the nerve to say to me: ‘Yeah, you should comment your code’. How I refrained of commiting murder that day I don’t know.

  • I had the same issue browsing a lemmy.world community from kbin.social, looks empty to me from kbin except for this message:

The magazine from the federated server may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance.

So I checked the original instance and there were already some threads there, then I created a new thread from kbin and it worked, it appears on both kbin and lemmy, but from kbin I still can only see my own thread, not the rest.

Oh well, I guess it’s a matter of time, @ernest is working really hard to fix everything and so far apart from a couple of things it has been a pretty smooth experience for me.

  • For basic things like syntax that I can’t remember it’s actually pretty good, way more faster than google IMO.

When I ask for something a little more complicated it can go two ways:

    • Actually doing a good job and generating something that I can use (I often have to polish that code, but still, it’s better than expected)

    • Doing whatever that I didn’t ask for, so when I point out that’s not what I meant and explain it further, it enters a bucle where it goes back to the two same solutions.

    “You didn’t like solution A? Here, there’s solution B. Solution B is terrible? Here, there’s A again.”

Overall it’s a great tool though.
