  • I also agree that Lemmy (largely in imitation of Reddit) skews more social than just a link aggregator, so I’m not arguing you personally are doing it wrong. Tbh it feels more like an “everything forum”, but like I said — splitting hairs. That’s engagement, too 🙂

A tool or algorithm that hides or just deprioritises empty posts would certainly be useful, maybe even as a core feature in future releases of Lemmy?

For my part, I’d like to be able to hide posts based on the source URL [cough, screenrant, cough], same as blocking users or whole instances. Little, user-level filters like that could make a big difference in the individual experience.

  • So, just to split hairs: Lemmy is a link aggregator, so it’s really better suited for this than Mastodon by design. BTW, please don’t make Mastodon a linkdump (I use that more than Lemmy) 🙂

Also, if you’re using a feed reader and Lemmy for news, then yes. There will be duplicates, but that is pretty much a problem in your setup, isn’t it? Can’t really fault either app for it.

All that said, I completely agree that just posting an URL without context or comment is unhelpful on any social platform. It’s always good to know what has motivated someone else to share a news item (especially in politics and other sports!).

Okay, let’s do this then. Show me where in that imaginary tome of “open source ideology” principles that “worthless nonsense” and “low effort content” are cause for dismissal. Who judges what is worthless and low effort, and on what criteria?

It’s fairly obvious that LGBTQIA+ related subjects are controversial, especially from the stink that you and a few others raise reflexively at the sight of a rainbow flag. Frankly, your opinions and bloviating is more worthless and low effort than an app that does nothing except display a flag in the system tray.

  • Yeah, it wasn’t a great episode beyond the nostalgic kick of seeing Tennant, Tate and Jacqueline King back together — but boy, did they snap back into their roles!

Miriam Margolyes voicing the Meep was pretty good, especially when she let rip in the last part. I feel like she was underused but also maybe this was the right amount of screeching for any episode 😄 Take note, Daleks!

I did think the metacrisis solution got handed to us like an ELI5 rather than allowing us to realise it along with the characters. It wasn’t a terrible idea, just very clunkily delivered.

The Meep’s boss, though… Yeah, that has to tie in with Rogue’s “new boss”, right? It looks like RTD has very deliberately seeded lots of mysteries for future seasons; despite some online fans’ wishes they won’t all connect in one resolution.

So yeah, >!Mrs Flood will not be the boss and also Susan!< …
