Umm…14 years of Conservative government?
I bought a book that had Yggdrasil in a CD that I used so I didn’t have to go into the university for the Unix labs.
I think that the entirety of the book, around 1,000 pages, was printed out man pages.
I was in high school in the late 1970s, and didn’t really know there was any music other than the top 40 stuff that the people around me were listening to. Mostly disco: Barry Manilow, the Bee Gees, and so on.
Then one of my brother’s friends told me to come and listen to some real music. He played Born to Run, and my head exploded.
I’m not a huge Springsteen fan (although I did see him in Syracuse a couple of months ago), but that song resonates with me, representing a time of awakening. Not just musically, but socially, politically, and other ways.
I agree. I would happily pay for a movie ticket to watch something that had the spirit and intelligence of Logan or Joker, but I doubt that’s going to happen anytime soon. I’m tired of having my intelligence insulted.
This is coming rather late, but I would definitely recommend Language Transfer. It’s a series of MP3s, that you can listen to on their own, or use their convenient app. The whole thing is free, although they are happy to accept donations.
I just discovered Fernwood2Night and America2Night, which I haven’t seen since they were broadcast in the 70s. It’s a mock late night talk show that launched the careers of Martin mull and Fred Willard.
I think that singing English songs would be very, very helpful. It forces you to use the phrasing, pronunciation, and emphasis of a native English speaker.
Did you see the version of Mad Max where they dubbed the Australian voices into American ones, because they felt Americans wouldn’t understand the Aussie accent? That made the movie 100x worse.
Are you saying “Whatabout…”?
instead of death
Unless you count birds that abandon their nests, and other animals that flee their homes. Or the heavy metals and other chemicals that are added to the environment. Or the significant increases in particulate matter in the air.
It makes sense. The big heavy cars are the ones with thicker steel, so they don’t rust out as fast.
Did you know that you can edit the title of your post? You should think about it!
And I found that dilaudid (hydromorphone) did nothing for me, didn’t even help my headache!
I don’t have a copy of Word handy, but I don’t think it is nearly as detailed. Wordperfect would show you all the formatting, but also marks for tables of contents and indexes, columns, images and other inserts, etc.
WordPerfect’s “Reveal Codes” mode was the best feature a word processor ever had. You could see exactly what was causing your formatting problems, and surgically fix them. It’s like viewing the HTML of a web page.
Here’s a new game: try to guess which party he belongs to before clicking on the story!
Yes, and the abused spouse provided her (/his) abuser.
I have been learning Spanish with Language Transfer. My wife has too, and even though she does not have much of a gift for languages, she found it very intuitive and rewarding.
For those of you who haven’t looked at language transfer, it has Spanish, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, French, German, Swahili, italian, and music theory. Some of those are introductions, others are full courses.
A couple of years ago, Canada required all carriers to cell unlocked phones, or allow them to be unlocked for free. Nothing bad has happened because of that. Our cell phone plans are still too expensive, and the companies are wildly profitable.
