My musing is not the sole reason why I’m voting for Harris, but you are correct that it is not exactly up to her (which of course kind of undermines the continuous claims I see from people saying she could end the genocide right this second).

I actually wonder if she has a different stance on Israel but simply will not/cannot talk about it because she is also the VP and it’s a “bad look to go against the boss,” so to speak.

Having dealt with them, they seem utterly committed to both parties being bad because they both serve capitalist ends and the ruling class (which is true tbh), but then fail to grasp that while both sides aren’t great, one side is at least doing SOMETHING positive while the other is actively trying to destroy things.

Just from a climate standpoint, at least the Dems are passing some kind of legislation about green energy and agree it exists, whereas the Republicans deny it and want to cut all remaining protections. This leaves us with two options: either these people want things to get worse out of some desire for change acceleration (yikes), or they really are just that stupid and can’t see any difference.

But also, you are literally killing Palestinians by saying these things - join me in waggling my finger at the government to feel better about yourself!

The problem, of course, is that they have opted for the self-destructive course and lash out uselessly at people who want change but have been forced to look at the reality of the situation and try to reduce damage as much as possible.

What they are doing now, calling anyone who votes Democrat a genocide supporter, is a prime example of that useless lashing out, as it isn’t productive, particularly in a rather small online space.

It’s probably best not to bother - these people want things as shitty as possible as fast as possible to make the revolution happen sooner or some shit

That said, the plans Republicans have put forward absolutely do include the outright killing of “pedophiles,” with “pedophile” being defined as "any person that distributes obscene content to minors or espouses “sexually explicit things to kids,” effectively allowing them to kill drag queens or LGBT+ people as their very existence is labeled as obscenely content for minors.

I don’t know why the Dems don’t drop some of their gun control policies, but its not an issue I’m really super concerned with either way compared to other things.

Yeah…its so obviously bullshit, which sucks, because I agree it is terrible what is happening in Gaza, but these mouthbreathers don’t seem to grasp that the world isn’t an easily defined place and solutions aren’t ever easy (inb4 I get one of them screaming “JuSt sToP vOtInG fOr ThEm” or whatever, lol).

As for your other statements: I’m going to operate under the idea of protecting the people I know vs those I don’t, as there is basically nothing I can do to stop the problem, and I’ve already determined that going with the less damaging to them option is the superior one to not. I’d be happy to have an option that both keeps the people I care about safe AND stop genocide, but if I can’t, I’m taking the next best thing - it really is that simple.

See, here’s the problem: all you are doing is ignoring the wishes of another trans person. If we want to go with the magical route of a single person can be representative of an entire group of people, then I’d be able to accept your request. However, we do not, and what I am saying is true that trans people will be harmed by me not supporting Kamala. Not every single trans person cares about this issue as much as Palestine, which is fine, but there are at least some who do, so my stance is valid.

Hell, we can go further if you like: I could ask you to not let my Ukrainian friend be killed by Russia when the Republicans cut off support for it and the anti-air systems go offline.

There are no shortages of tragedies in the world that have no easy immediate fixes, and sometimes simply reducing the damage is the only option; other times you can’t do anything, and sometimes the lives of one side get weighed against the other. Shit sucks
