I don’t think it should be the goal to replace reddit with lemmy. Reddit was problematic, it’s userbase was generally pretty toxic, and had many issues with it’s structure.

Lemmy is a chance to do things differently

I can totally respect that this was a lovely, safe and small community before the reddit influx, and you want to keep it that way. I’m a new reddit refugee and I signed up here because i love the ethos, but ultimately I’ve made an alt over at lemmy.world so i can view all the content they produce on my main feed.

Not sure where my home will be, or what i’m looking to get out of lemmy, but weather I end up back here or not, I appreciate all beehaw has done to introduce me to lemmy and the lovely interactions i’ve had here already

I’m curious what difficulties you encountered, I signed up at beehaw where i had to write a response to why i wanted to join, but even then my account was manually reviewed by a human and when i checked an hour later, I was signed up.

Other communities don’t have such rules. I managed to create an alt account on another server and i was signed up immediately, equally as fast as reddit.

Spotify for finding new music and most of my listening.

I’ll buy vinyl for my favorite albums or if I see something at the record store that takes my fancy.

I’ll usually listen to my records while cooking or if I want to just sit and listen as a primary activity

I went back to Minecraft a couple weeks ago and just beat the ender dragon. It’s a great time even if you’ve done it a dozen times before. I do this about once a year, It’s fun to try and play it differently. Usually I try to go with huge farms of all different kinds (crops, meat, xp, iron, etc.), this time I went with micro farms, just enough to keep me alive.

Exactly. Shutting down for 2 days just says we’ll be back in 2 days. Shutting down and saying we’re going to Lemmy with a link to a specific community shows reddit we are serious about this.
