  • I think it depends. I have too many hours in the game so I feel confident in saying that it is worthwhile. However, I believe there are a lot of factors to consider. Below are my thoughts, apologies as I typed a lot. If you also want me to elaborate more on certain issues/facets of the game, just let me know (:

1). The game is expensive. Knowing which expansions to get without any sort of help will likely be a headache. To remedy that, you’ll want to look for the Destiny 2: Legacy Collection. It gives you the major expansions of Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen. The order I have them listed is the canonical order in which they occurred in game. We’re in the expansion of Lightfall (this comes after The Witch Queen). I would suggest avoiding it until you’ve played the previous expansions.

2). The game heavily relies on veterans to teach New Lights. The new player experience has gotten better but it’s still far from good. A lot of info will be like mush to you without some sort of guide. Armor stats, ability cooldowns, build crafting, general gameplay.

3). Another person in this thread mentioned the process of “sunsetting”. This was a former action done by Bungie that has since been done away with. You won’t be affected by this in the same way veteran players were, however, the overarching story will be lost on you without looking at videos unfortunately. Bungie is working on ways to give newer/returning players more context that they’re currently missing. My Name is Byf or Myelin Games can give you the story run down plus extra lore.

  • FlyingSquid posted this bit of the transcript:

    Holy fuck…

In a post about a “prominent American Jewish politician,” court documents said Goltz commented, “I want to throw that Jew in an oven so badly, I can taste it.”

In response to posts about another Maricopa County official, Goltz suggested targeting the official’s children. Another user said kids were “off limits.” Goltz’s account replied that nothing was off limits and said the other user did not “have the stomach to do whatever it takes to get our country back.”

    Throw away the fucking key.

  • I’m one of the people who hated Red War. I stand by that it was a crap story after all these years. Cayde being a “haha funny robot man” wasn’t entertaining, it was annoying. Fail safe, as much as I personally found the split personality to be entertaining, it’s also annoying. I don’t even want to talk about Asher. The less I think about him, the better.

It also felt like there was no reason to care about Ghaul as a villain. On top of that, my biggest gripe was the fact that we got our abilities back two missions into the game. I thought we were going to have to do at least several things lightless but nope. Just some, admittedly beautiful moments of walking through the landscapes without our powers.

I am glad you found something enjoyable about it though. Just for me, Y1D2 was just like Y1D1, a genuine disappointment.
