  • Why were you more worried in 2016? He literally attempted to stage a coup and it failed. That’s why he left. Did you expect him to start an armed insurrection by himself?

I don’t remember “this may be the last election ever” being a mainstream or credible narrative for any election prior to 2020… you know… The one he tried to make the last election ever.

Your comment is exceptionally naive, and probably the same sentiment that lead to Trumps win. Americans are completely ignorant to the reality of the situation; liberals included.

  • This is literally the exact same tired tactic used about 2016; attack and blame the left, instead of the neoliberals, moderates, centrists, corporations, or 70 million people who voted for fascism. It is a manufactured PsyOp, that has achieved the exact opposite of what you want 2/3 times.

Trying to blame and shame the left into voting the way you want has failed 66% of the time. You can either learn from it, or continue repeating the same mistakes… it’s not like the left’s gonna care. They blame you, and enjoy the schadenfreude of your failures.

  • I expect it to go the way of Germany one century ago. If conservatives make authoritarian, bloodthirsty, change too quickly they run the risk of an armed revolution and civil war.

If they go slow and calculated over the next 10-20 years, like a serial killer, they can gradually shift the overton window to where your neighbors not only vocally support murder and terrorism, but actively facilitate or engage in it. In that time they can indoctrinate Gen Alpha to be the executioners, and follow through with a level of grotesque psychopathy Gen Z and millennials were never capable of.

When you look at what humanity has done to the planet, especially in the last century, an extremely selfish humanity — deserving of the suffering they cause themselves in their confusion — was always self-evident.

We’re quite literally killing the planet to the extent that it will likely become unviable for human civilization within a century or so, most living species will be exterminated, and billions of people will starve to death … and every day most of us choose not stop the destruction because it individually grants us a constant stream of dopamine hits from consumption and consumerism; the consequences are out of sight, and out of mind.

We’re extremely ignorant, arrogant, dopamine-drug-addicted, talking chimps on a one way trip to oblivion. If it makes you feel any better, we never really stood a chance.

  • No post mortem. Blind support for neoliberalism is the only way.

    “Now’s not the time”

    “Nobody could have predicted this”

    etc…

As one of the dozens of people who are not American, I was chatting to my cousin the other day, and he said that after seeing the amount of dead kids that have come out of Gaza this year, and taking a mental health week off work due to the anxiety of watching the world not give a shit, he hopes Trump gets elected and America collapses into civil war… That Americans suffer for what their government has done, and is doing. He’s not a bad guy. Bad guys don’t have breakdowns from watching foreign children murdered.

I can’t logically support his view, but I completely emotionally understand it. He knew Trump would be objectively worse for humanity, but is a fascist genocide that kills 2 million people better than a fascist genocide that kills 5 million people? At that point you’re really just splitting hairs between failed states, and systems that deserve to be burned to the ground. After enough chances, opportunities, and desensitisation, you want the schadenfreude of watching the American electorate who voted for Trump shooting themselves in the face, destroying their livelihoods and lineage, along with all of their false patriotism and exceptionalism. I still suspect the conserva-russian PsyOps to be the main source of Trumps win, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Israel’s genocide is the straw that broke the Dems back.

  • Not after fascists fill the ranks of the NSA and mass-surveillance state apparatus. I guarantee that if you’re a teenager they have already captured enough data about you to reliably predict who’s liberal, gay, trans, etc with a very high degree of accuracy; doesn’t really matter though, as fascism will treat every false positive with extreme prejudice anyway.

Only the kids who go on the offensive and proactively blend in with fascism will remain hidden, if they keep it to themselves and avoid typing it into a phone or computer.

  • This is what people do not seem to understand. Fascism has the backing of global capitalism. All of the multinationals and industries who have been top dogs for the entire industrial revolution — fossil fuel corporations, weapons manufacturing and the entire military industrial complex — all of the food supply chain, major media networks, social media networks, and big tech companies, who have built a more expansive surveillance apparatus than Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia — ALL of the leaders of the highly-centralized functional-monopolies of 21st C capitalism benefit from fascism. The 1/100 who says “not like this” is irrelevant.

They’re all part of the big club (even if they are oblivious to it) and you aren’t in it.

None of us are as “free” as we believe we are. At the end of the day our politicians are all financed by our wealthiest individuals and corporations (many of which are foreign).

No matter where you are the majority of your domestic politics, your geopolitics — your “national security” — is intrinsically linked to the wealthiest individuals and corporations that engage with your economy. This can happen anywhere, and it will if we do nothing.

    P.S. thanks mods!
