Not knowing much about Spanish politics, the way I could see it happening is if Madrid fumbles the emergency response in an autonomous community (Valencia) so badly that Catalonians will want nothing to do with it, choosing self-reliance and self-determination.

Jesus. I was in Valencia in early 2020, and to think so much of it has been irreparably changed. The lagoon was a beautiful place, and it may take years or decades for the ecosystem to go back to some sense of normalcy. That, assuming it doesn’t get another monsoon again.

I think it’s an observation many people have made independently, you’re definitely not alone in thinking that way. I think Paris Marx said something to this effect on his newsletter I think.

From watching carpentry YouTube videos, I learned that most 2x4s in north America are lower quality because they’re made from younger trees and because they’re pine, they’re very soft wood. What the people on the videos recommend is taking a 2x10 that’s made from stronger wood, cutting two 2x4s from each edge, and then using that to smack JD Vance in the face.
