  • The new House isn’t sworn in until January 3… By the time we get to January 6, the electors are supposed to have voted. December 11 is the deadline for appointing electors, December 25 the deadline for voting. Mike Johnson will still be in charge on both of those days.

Since we’re not playing by the rules anymore, could the new house speaker (assuming Democratic majority) just extend/accept things on Jan 3rd?

Since we’ll know that sooner they would just need to signal that they intend to accept late appointments and voting.

I suppose that too would go to the Supreme Court, but it seems worth trying.

  • Like, how the fuck is this even a close election?

Accelerationism. That’s how I… understand? interpret? rationalize? it.

If you think things are shit, which is an understandable view depending on the “things”, and you don’t see that changing, you just say “fuck it”. Now if someone calls your candidate “crazy” or “unhinged” you just go, “Of course, that’s what I want”.

Add to that, no one who supports accelerationism thinks it will affect them. A crazy new world will fix their world and only hurt the “bad people”.

And I say all this knowing that it doesn’t really make sense.

  • Debra Jo-Rupp really was underutilized.

    Episode 8 spoilers

Her death, in hindsight once we know Billy created The Road, is huge for both Agatha and Billy.

Agatha gets to understand that Billy, intentionally or not, will kill people while on The Road. It’s clearly unintentional since when Billy is looking for Tommy he asks if he’s purposefully killing “new Tommy” or if “new Tommy” is already dead.

I think a moment where Billy reflects and really gets to understand that he killed Mrs. Heart/Sharon would have been helpful.

(Although maybe they can throw that into the future. Billy will be tasked by Agatha with needing to kill someone. Billy will be torn, stating that he’s never killed anyone before. Agatha can just nonchalantly mention that he killed Mrs. Heart, causing Billy further distress. Although for that to happen Agatha has to remember her, so that’s less likely.)

  • The delistings are yet another example of Netflix struggling to find its footing in gaming.

I don’t think “gaming” is related at all here, but I admit I only watched Bandersnatch and Kimmy Schmidt.

I saw this as an attempt at Choose-Your-Own-Adventure films. The book form is still reading, not suddenly a game. Similarly the film form is still watching, not a game.

As for the actual content, I think Bandersnatch worked really well. I think Kimmy Schmidt did not. I’m guessing most people just want to zone out and watch.
