  • My daily driver headphones are my Samson SR850 open backs. They sound great for music, sound great for shows and movies, and sound great for the gaming I do. They are open back, so noise bleeds out like crazy, and the sub-bass isn’t as punchy as closed back headphones, but I enjoy that wider sound staging you get with open backs. The ear cups weren’t as deep as I wanted, so I bought deeper, softer, more comfy ear cups, and I can wear them for hours without any discomfort.

  • I suppose nationalities or cultures would have been better! People are not their nation and culture crosses borders and all that. As for calling Nigeria lesser known, I suppose I mean more the culture and people of Nigeria than the nation itself. Lots of people where I’m at know of Nigeria at least by name, and typically they think of internet scammers. But if I asked random folks where I’m at who Fela Kuti was I’d get lots of no’s back.

Could have worded it as “lesser known cultures” or “cultures not commonly discussed”.

  • It can depend on the mixing, too. Not just in regards to volume, but also in how the vocals are edited. My recent obsession has been Dusk at Cubist Castle, shit’s absolutely amazing. The way a lot of the vocals are mixed and processed are super cool, like layering the same lines over themselves five times over with subtle delays and panning, it sounds real cool! But it makes it sound a lot more distant to me as a result.

  • So I’m not deaf, not in the slightest, but I struggle to understand lyrics in music. I love music, I live and breathe it and I’m gonna dedicate my life to it, but I’ve always struggled with understanding lyrics in music. To me, the vocalist is just another instrument in the mix. Having lyrics to read helps me appreciate my favorite tunes more!

  • There’s an entire industry of pedaling them as health products. I once had a random bint on a tour notice my sore back thanks to my scoliosis and asked me about it during some downtime in the tour. After the tour was done she “tipped” me by pouring an amount of essential oil on my palm, told me to rub it on my back, and that if I buy the stuff myself it’ll cure my scoliosis.

I walked to the break room and washed it down the drain. Shit made my hand STANK and my head hurt from the fumes.
