True, the Sino Vietnamese war was an L, as expected of post Sino Soviet split Chinese foreign policy. And yeah I had the same concerns over liberalizing too fast, esp in the Jiang and Hu era, but it seems like that’s been reigned in too. Trust the process I guess.
Yeah that, and to expand a little, he was often derided by hardliners for being a sellout, and the plan to develop productive forces in China had some close calls from a full capitalist restoration. It seems to have worked out so far however, since the PRC was originally an impoverished pariah state, and now it is more advanced in many respects than the west. The work that needs to be done now is to take the productive forces that the capitalists gleefully supplied in exchange for cheap labour and turn it towards domestic production and consumption.
Its insane how much our favourite capitalist roader was vindicated holy shit. All that’s left is to press the communism button.
In 2030: Sure the USN lost a multibillion dollar carrier to a swarm of DJIs with explosives duct taped to them, but damn did the CIWS tracers look cool for the first couple minutes before everything blew up, and isn’t that money well spent?

Anyone with a Chinese sounding name writing columns for western propaganda outlets is either:

Beware of the Boba amerikkkans, and don’t listen to anyone Mao would have dunce capped.

IDK how you managed to dig up this month old comment of mine but basically, Lysenko was like: what if Mendelian inheritance wasn’t all there was to it? What if non genetic factors could also influence the phenotype of offspring? Today, that field of study is known as epigenetics, which did end up more or less agreeing with some of Lysenko’s findings, but with different mechanisms of action than he initially theorized.
During his time though, with the cold war going on, science also became an ideological battleground, with the west smearing Lysenko’s theories as pseudoscience, while the USSR may have overreacted in rejecting some parts of western scientific orthodoxy.
So yeah, dude was smart, got a lot of stuff right and a lot of stuff wrong, but everything was viewed through the lens of cold war ideology, which blinded people to a lot of things that may appear obvious to us now.
I also have a few CPC members to meet.
Well there are 98 million of them so try randoms on the street your chances are pretty good
West bad tho frfr
Yeah I don’t miss the ignorance of being a lib at all, but knowing specifically how and why things suck ass is definitely one of the downsides.
actual bliss I experienced the day Henry Kissinger died

Too bad he went out peacefully of old age instead of like, being flayed in Cambodia or something.
True, but it also ruined a lot of stuff I used to enjoy because all I can see is how the creators of stuff implement profit seeking measures in everything.
Real tired of seeing the 3 tiny irrelevant baltic “countries” whose entire national identity is based on collaborating with nazis continue to do nazi collaboration.
You mean the entire userbase of reddit? yeah
I had Havana syndrome when I was in Santiago de Cuba, those mojitos must have been russian agents.
Top 5 steps to avoid a neoliberal balkanization of your country:
Step 1: Don’t repudiate the legacy of the most popular and beloved leader of your country and destroy public faith in your ruling ideology
Step 2: Don’t decouple your military from party control and have a CIA coup illegally dissolve your government
actually is just the 2 steps
That is correct, there were border raids which prompted the invasion, but the Sino Soviet split is what caused the worsening relations which led to that. Basically, the invasion was cringe, even if there was some justification for it, but what was more cringe was the repudiation of Stalin and the revisionism in the USSR that followed by corn boy.
