Lore was good at people, colloquialisms and stuff.

Whereas, irl, data is just a collection of facts, a store of knowledge. lore is the myths and legends we tell ourselves, and not necessarily fact.

It’s really unfortunate that Lore was a villain.

The fact they had a trial to determine data’s personhood and that it was agonizingly close, that they were actually considering denying it.

If they were truly moral, the question would have never come up; or Maddox and the general would have been slapped down with a scathing “don’t be evil”.

Also, at that point data was hardly new- he’s been in starfleet for 20+ years in which Data earned his place as a decorated Lt. Commander.

In any case, this isn’t even a question for a starfleet court - this would fall under civil purview, and even hearing the trial is a miscarriage. (Also the IFP courts probably have some sort of test that doesn’t require destructive testing. Details.)

You forgot that it was starlet that created the need for this legal argument in the first place.

If the judge was truly moral; this trial would never have happened. If starfleet was moral, the docheberger that wanted to dismantle data would never have been a member.

Also the other best defense would have been to ask docuheberger to prove he’s not just a machine, and crusher explain in intricate detail how they can reassemble Ryker’s brain. And reattach Ryker’s limb after Warf rips it off.

Cloudy stock is like soggy pie crust bottoms to certain crowds. Though generally speaking, a cloudy stock is less about messing something up and more about what you’ve added to veg stock. (or it could be “over” cooked- if you just kept it at a simmer the entire time, it should just be a matter of filtering the liquid. or going full on consomme-clear with the whole chill it-and-egg-whites process to filter it.)

if you do make vege stock with scraps; mushrooms definitely add a positive flavor too it. this is more of a use-it-or-loose-it phase of salvaging the shrooms. (or scraps, carrot and apple peels feature in my stock, too. as well as onion skins and garlic-ends that I just can’t be arsed to mince all the way down.)

By the way, you can use stock of all types for more things than just soup. for example, using stock instead of water for rice will definitely improve the flavor. (veg or chicken stock; beef stock was… weird…). same goes for stews; including mushroom stews and beef stews (veg stock here.)

Mushroom stock comes to mind. Just, uh, makes sure to rinse them well first. (forget cloudy stock. sandy stock is ewww)

There’s a lot to say about how American politics matters enough to the state of the world that anyone has a right to an opinion on them, but you could say the same thing about Russia and China and it’d still be weird if American activists publicy endorsed (or refused to endorse) their political candidates.
