It’s been my favourite book since forever as well :)
I first read it as a child, when it was still way above my level, but I already found the story and scenery very captivating back then. When re-reading the book, I’m always happy to rediscover that the story is still great and that there’s also a lot more depth to it than I realised as a child.
Btw, if you’d be insterested in reading a similar book that’s not by Adams: I can definitely recommend The Cold Moons by Aeron Clement. While the general plot is very similar to Watership Down (but with badgers), it has a unique style and implementation of the story. It isn’t as good as Watership Down but it’s still very enjoyable and moving.
