Oh good a new way for me to get microplastics into my bloodstream.

Can we please get rid of these people who insist on remaining uninformed and then going out and spreading their ignorance by attacking others? It’s contrary to the vision of this instance to allow them to continue this behavior.
In some sense the ends justify the means here, I think. There was no way of really knowing when they created this process whether it would work, but here we are. It seems to me the community is quite tolerant and generally on the same page, so I would say it works well enough.
A long video – probably much longer than it needed to be to make its point – but a good one. It’s hard to express why you might start to dislike a show like Sunny, and she does a good job of outlining the reasons with evidence to back it up.
As someone who doesn’t think about shows in a meta-sense too often, a lot of the issues with Mac’s character really did go over my head. In fact, I had kind of tricked myself into thinking Gay Mac was a better character because I identify with him more than old Mac, but as Mary rightly points out the purpose of the characterization in the show is to make fun of them, not to identify with them. Mac being openly gay necessitates that the show make fun of gay culture, and that’s pretty antithetical to its thesis.
The gross-out humor also kind of slipped past me, but in hindsight it’s obviously a crutch that they’ve been relying on in a lot of the later episodes (and continue to, see S16E1 and E3…).
And I definitely noticed how characters were wildly shifting between their traits and the “straight-man” on an episode-by-episode basis, though I didn’t realize how much it’s just a later-season problem. It’s a little heartbreaking because it definitely feels like the cast just doesn’t care enough to try anymore, and are only making the show still for their paychecks, which indicates that there’s very little chance of a “turnabout” or return-to-form like Mary suggests.
On the bright side, we got between 8 and 12 really damn good seasons, and nobody can take that away.
Wow, gorgeous!
Oh man this takes me back.
At least for now always sorting by new is very pleasant.
It is a somewhat reductive statement, I’ll give you that, but I think the core idea is true. Most people will go to the easiest solution. Lemmy’s userbase may continue to grow for some time, but it will not reach anywhere close to the level of reddit. I think it’s foolish to point to the trends from the last week and try to draw conclusions about the future, as this is clearly an extraordinary circumstance.
Do you really think the average person knows or cares about that? No, of course not. They will congregate on the most populous instance so long as it continues to support the traffic.
There was a lot of chaos around the migration, no surprises there. We can’t change the past, but we can set goals to make the future better.
You’re pointing out the exact problem that I am describing: Users will naturally flock to the largest, most stable instances, thus centralizing lemmy and removing the benefit of federation.
The reality is that reddit still exists, and is still more user-friendly (and that’s a low bar). It’s great that lemmy is getting this bump, but it won’t last unless we make it easy to switch for most people. If lemmy was good enough to be a reddit alternative already, it would be. But it’s not, and the only reason people are here is because of the protest.
I haven’t had any interest in FF games since the original 7, but I played the demo after I saw it on the store just for fun. I think I’m gonna buy this one.
Other than some gripes and annoyances, it’s fucking fun. Closer to dark souls combat than the weird ATB stuff they’ve had for a while.
The writing is surprisingly okay, albeit with some cringe lines here and there and and overall trope-ey lore. Some of the exposition actually didn’t feel totally out of place!
My biggest concern is about grind, as is the case with much of the series, but we’ll see I guess.
I’m not familiar with Hubzilla, but it sounds like one possible solution!
Absolutely! Don’t fool yourself into thinking this will be the only time this happens. Some instance owners will never be willing or able to manage their servers as well as the big players, and that means bad actors can creep into other instance through them!
Yes, I think there are other alternatives to accomplish a similar goal. It may be that lemmy will build in its own syncing of some kind. The method doesn’t really matter much to me.
Thank you for that insightful comment. You’ve really addressed my point in its entirety, and thoroughly proven me to be a dullard. I submit to your vast intelligence.
Your work is the bee’s knees!
This is really cool! But – and I mean no disrespect – it’s not really Tarot (or at least not the Major Arcana). Tarot is about symbology, whereas these cards are akin to the Minor Arcana royalty – Page, Knight, Queen, and King. The art of the Major Arcana is specifically designed to contain certain symbols which can be used for readings. Of course, there are plenty of decks out there that do not conform to this, but they aren’t particularly useful as Tarot. It would be really cool to recreate this symbology as Major Arcana cards in the context in Elden Ring though!
