Father; husband; mechanical engineer. Posting from my self-hosted Lemmy instance here in beautiful New Jersey. I also post from my Pixelfed instance.
At least he didn’t choose to attack a school instead.
Latinx doesn’t work and it’s embarrassing to force it. Latine at least kind of sounds right, but what are we doing here? If you’re speaking English and don’t want to say Latino or Latina, you can just say Latin American. In Spanish if an individual says they want to be referred to as latine then you should respect that. Otherwise, latinos is fine for a mixed gender group.
It’s competition for passengers. If it’s too easy and inexpensive for people to travel long distances in their cars, why bother with mass transit? I don’t know about California, but here on the East coast, chargers keep popping up, the highways are getting wider, and there’s barely any new rail service coming.
Then why the struggle to deploy new fast charging infrastructure? All we’re doing is avoiding mass transit and subsidizing the battery industry.
Looks like the existing rail is for Ikea horizontal sliding panel shades. Just take it down if it’s not what you want. Not sure if you can reuse the holes.
What we really need is more rail and less cars of any type. Anyway, it’s too bad that BEVs and their “fast” chargers are getting foisted on us. Maybe a future Who Killed the Hydrogen Car? documentary will get to the bottom of it.
Hell yeah put some middle name on that thang.
He got a second Pulitzer is what.
Let’s give some credit where it’s due. The photographer is Evan Vucci for AP News: https://twitter.com/evanvucci/status/1812330828371763638?t=CJ1YU9a3nGYrdz20ixRQQQ&s=19
It’s an incredible shot.
How are the Dems going to top this?
It’s crazy to me that policy makers insist that electricity generation has to be profitable. Just nationalize it. We could have a surplus of greenhouse gas free thermal power not only for electricity, but for heating and steel, fertilizer, and vehicle fuel production for years by now. Instead we have to wait to figure out how to satisfy investors and keep electricity just scarce enough.
Maybe in some cases, but in this case the use of “need” is insincere in the first place. A please at the end softens and adds a little bit of humility to what was originally a somewhat hostile response.
Indeed. That’s why I didn’t also add a question mark.
Gonna need a source for this claim, please.
Is this really still true about images federating in Lemmy? In any case, I think the problem can be avoided by disabling pict-rs.
Anything that can be reused. Containers and packaging material should have a significant return deposits.
The only fixture behind a door should be the toilet bowl. The sink and paper towel dispenser should actually be outside of the bathroom so everyone can see if you wash your hands or not.
I get a headache every time I have to help my mom with her iPhone or try to do something on my kid’s iPad. I know part of it is that I’m just very used to Android, but there’s no excuse for finding an app or setting being so tedious on iOS.
Fire fighters are generally good in my book, but I saw that guy’s Twitter profile and he was a genuine asshole.
