Thank you for sharing your story and experiences. I’m glad you were able to persevere, accept help at your lowest point, and that things are better for you now.
Hopefully your dad is able to get things in order for himself, but it is fruitless if he isn’t willing to change his mindset. My friend’s parent is in a similar situation and it sucks.
They were one of my favorites over 20 years ago. I played many of their games: Splinter Cell, Beyond Good & Evil, Child of Light, Assassin’s Creed. I never played Far Cry, Prince of Persia, or got heavily into Rayman, but they certainly did make many gems.
Then somewhere around 10-15 years ago, they enshittified.
Now they’re an evil and anti-consumer corporation. I don’t buy their games anymore, which is a shame because I’d love the Beyond Good & Evil remaster and the upcoming sequel. I’d love to play Immortals Fenyx Rising. But their track record shows they will only release games that are: “safe” copy-and-paste games, not innovative, unoriginal, loaded with micro transactions and predatory telemetry, and equipped with DRM and kill switches.
Why purchase and play Immortals Fenyx Rising when in 10 years they’ll just take it away from me? Such a shame. I won’t participate in Ubisoft games anymore unless they course correct (read: They will never course correct).
Why is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 on this list?
Sure I understand that fans at the time didn’t want the book to be split into two movies. But it was a fantastic movie that stays very true to the Mockingjay book. Both Parts 1 & 2 of the movies I view as a singular movie.
Some games have already been posted, so I’ll share two games that really stuck with me:
I could mention Persona 5 Royal, but it’s such a hugely popular game so there’s no need to elaborate.
Life is Strange took me on a mystery journey, and I felt such nostalgia for my early days as a teenager. It’s an old game, but I won’t spoil it here. I’ll give a small plot. You’re Max Caufield, and you’ve returned to Arcadia Bay and see your old best friend, Chloe Price, whom you haven’t spoken to in years. She gets into some crazy stuff and Chloe is about to be shot by another student, but Max intervenes and discovers she has the power to rewind time, allowing her to save Chloe’s life. There’s an underlying mystery in Arcadia Bay where another young girl mysteriously disappeared, and Max and Chloe team up to try to find her.
Hellblade allowed me to experience what psychosis is like, through the lens of the main character, Senua. This game is unforgettable. Senua needs to save her lover, without letting the rot that’s festering inside her to consume her. That’s all I’ll say about this gem.
“Crazy Taxi now leverages the power of AI. This transformative machine learning will transform the way gamers interact in our game, as our AI powered engine will robustly streamline the way gamers connect and socialize. Embark on a new journey, where AI will AI. Now, take the next AI step with AI!”
Nope, that’s the insufferable James Cordon
He who tops it off drops it off.
It isn’t filled until it’s spilled.
Those little babies. They’re so cute. Hope they were taken in and on their way to good homes
That’s great to hear. I collect game soundtracks. That’s like when I play a new Life is Strange, it’s an instant soundtrack buy.
Let’s cut all the philosophical crap and focus on what is most important here.
Would you still love me, now that I’m a worm?
Well done soldier! Been seeing a lot of your posts here and I always enjoy your retro gaming pics, especially if it’s one of my favorite formative games like Ocarina of Time.
You’re making me want to dust off my old consoles and hook them up. I need to replay Chrono Trigger to honor Akira Toriyama who passed away this year. Would give me a good excuse to get the SNES up and running.
Celeste for $1.99? Hell yes! Insta buy for me, been wanting to play this game so bad.
That means we get a share in the profits, right? Right?
It works for Boebert. I guess they wanted to try it for Trump. Lol
I hate that I want to enter that sink hole and go under those sheets of grass.
It’s incredibly dangerous, and yet when will I ever get the opportunity to do this.
I, too, was forged in the fires of Macromedia.
Before the dark times. Before the empire.
I think it’s a noble thing to preserve these digital recordings. It’s tough, because they’re the individual person’s memories. But long after we’re dead and our names and lives are forgotten, it would be an important artifact for our future generations to have access to.
Now I’m thinking about all the old VHS tapes my parents have. If they haven’t already degraded, I’m going to ask for those tapes and see what it costs to digitize them myself.
Would you be willing to digitize that recording and upload it to the Internet Archive for preservation? You certainly don’t have to add the link here, but I believe it would be a wonderful thing for the next generations to watch one day.
I love watching old restored footage so I can vicariously experience that moment in time and reflect on how far humanity has progressed.
How much money can we pull together for Clarence Thomas?
I heard the corrupt shithead also likes free vacations, so maybe we can chip in on a Royal Caribbean cruise or something, and maybe get him a snow cone and a breath mint on the side.
