trump?

I like the idea on the surface, but no, I don’t want to be forced to vote for a few reasons:

• A lack of voter engagement is it’s own outcome of a vote.
• Freedom of speech means being able to refuse to speak, and voting is one of the most powerful forms of speech most people have.
• I’m not a fan of the government forcing me to do something I might not believe in.
• There are many people who don’t want to vote for trump but refuse to vote for Democrat and if forced might hold their nose and vote trump.

Making election day a Federal holiday and guaranteeing everyone has the option to vote would be more effective and have a better outcome.

Edit: Several replies are basically saying the same thing: you can turn in an empty ballot. But the exact same thing can be accomplished much easier by staying at home. You can’t force people to go somewhere, or even mail in a ballot… they have a hard enough time getting people to do the census. Also, a candidate such as trump would refuse the results of any election they lost that didn’t have 100% turnout, especially if the margin of loss is less than the percentage that didn’t vote.

Again, I do like the spirit of the idea, but in order to make it work it would take more effort than it is worth since staying home accomplishes the same thing as a blank ballot.

My wife has a Pixel 8, I have a Pixel 6 Pro, and my daughter has a Motorola Moto G 5G, all on Google Fi and I am the only one having this issue. We can all be in the same place and suddenly my phone gets a ‘!’ by the signal. This never happens to their phones.

Houses in my neighborhood are selling as soon as they hit the market, and yes, my neighbors are real people and are actually the homeowners. The family that just moved in next door are immigrants, the wife is a manager at a logistics center and her husband works nights at the local Amazon warehouse.

It’s possible, but that is the same thing people say about trump, that since he has money he isn’t beholdened to anyone. Anyone can be over-leveraged, especially the rich.

Typically it’s lotion and my wife is allergic to Bath & Body Works lotions and has had full blown asthma attacks from a cup being handed into our car.

This was almost my first car: the Geo Metro convertible.

If I’m remembering correctly the weight capacity of this car was something like 350 pounds, which meant that my dad and I wouldn’t have been able to ride in it at the same time. That wasn’t the reason I didn’t get it (it was used and had been wrecked and the radiator was held in place with Bondo)… I really wished it would have worked out.

I went on to get a 71 VW Super Beetle. I like cute cars.

My 13 year old Subaru has 3 oil leaks and requires a quart of oil every month. And I just had to drop $1100 to fix the AC after it not working at all last summer.

My wife’s 12 year old Subaru sputters to a stop if you brake too hard with the AC running. It also burns oil (always has) and requires a quart every other month.

I can afford new cars, there just aren’t ANY that I want due to privacy concerns.

I have a 3 year old MacBook that runs my local LLM and Image Generator. I read this article from the perspective that the new PC chips would be for people who want to run their AI locally, but I suppose you’re right, Microsoft is going to push their Copilot as hard as possible.
