  • Yeah sure, it’s not like anyone uses their car to get from a to b inside that village, but for everything else people will use a car.

I was passing through another village where I spent holidays as a kid, cabrière d’aigues, all I remembered was the big pétanque square. Seeing it now three quarters of the space is a parking area. I don’t know if I just remembered that wrong, but pretty sure there was no parking back then.

  • Oh man, sounds like you have quite some time on your hands, awesome. International train travel is a mess with a bike, probably makes sense to disassemble for that long of a trip then. Although you’d have time in advance to book something. There should be interesting “intercités de nuit” that would bring you from Paris to the border of Spain over night, I think both ends of Pyrenees, Basque country and catalunya. These trains should take full bikes. I hate the SNCF website though, so confusing and I never get to book a train that I’d like.

  • Yeah, that ain’t a thing. If you’re lucky there may be one or a few* communal fire places, but it’s kinda rare. I have been the only on two, three official camp sites in Norway because I wild camped the rest, but I don’t remember seeing a fire place there either, although they may have had a communal one too. Refuges in the mountains often have an indoor fire place though.

*only really remember a single one that had a few, the one at Saignelégier, Switzerland.
