I would like to be able to block full instances for a user. My example is to not see any content from lemmynsfw.com.
Block individual communities is not practical as they will continue to make more and i will have a massive list to block and update.
Note, i do not want to block ALL NSFW posts, i just know that the above one is porn, and i dont want that on this account
Thanks!
Thank you! It’s good to know about these dirty porn instances. Can you please list as many as you can? Just so I can block them all! ;)
This isn’t possible on Lemmy atm, but it is possible on kbin.
How do I block an entire instance on Kbin? I see the section in my profile for blocked domains but I can’t find how to do it.
for example, let’s say you want to block lemmygrad.ml: go to kbin.social/d/lemmygrad.ml (d for “domain”) and from there click the 🚫, the same way you would for blocking a community.
I don’t believe this feature exists yet, but I imagine it won’t be long before it does. As far as I know, instances can only be blocked by the local admin.
You can see all threads from an instance by using the following URL on Kbin (not on Lemmy):
https://kbin.social/d/[instance-url]
^ the /d stands for domain.
e.g.: https://kbin.social/d/lemmy.ml
On the same page, you can block the whole instance.
yeah cool, unfortunately i am on lemmy, which means i do not have the kbin options.
Or choose an instance that doesn’t federate with those instances that you don’t want to see. Those will usually be the ones that don’t allow NSFW content.
Here’s a good comparison: https://github.com/maltfield/awesome-lemmy-instances
Note that you can configure your account to not view NSFW content - that would mean that you’d still see content from those instances, but not anything flagged as NSFW.
NSFW identification is broken between Kbin and Lemmy right now. So you still see it.
i already have an instance. and i am happy with the size and moderation of it… I dont think it is too much to ask as a way of moderating my personal content. It means i can stay where i am, and not let someone else decide what i dont want to see, or what the line is for acceptable NSFW is.
Cheers
In that case, I recommend creating a feature request for Lemmy: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/new/choose
