    :guffaw:

It’s going to be funny if Qualcomm does start a price war because they’re is 0% chance that China will let it result in Huawei abandoning it’s new line of R&D. Which means it will just result in strengthening China and weakening the US. Similar to the way that the imperialists force SA to sell oil cheap so it can be taxed more in the importing country.

Qualcomm uses double-edged sword and hurts the US in confusion

Exactly, having a domestic supply chain is a matter of national security for China, and US provided a powerful demonstration of the risks involved relying on western tech. This isn’t just a lesson for China, but for the rest of the world as well. Any countries that aren’t vassals of US already are more likely to lean towards Chinese tech going forward.

This is fantastic for the global market as well - the competition will start to boil. While sanctions almost exclusively stifle innovation, small wins like this when big changes land are great to see.

Qualcomm being the only company allowed to sell 4G SOCs to Huawei was a bullshit move in the first place.

The only reason Qualcomm sold so many to Huawei was because the US blocked Mediatek and UNISOC. The US government never gave a legitimate reason why they never granted permission to the competition that applied to supply Huawei.
