Anybody have any tips for me on catching largemouth bass? I know for a fact they are in my pond. The water has maybe a foot of visibility, at least on the shore. I’ve seen them hit them top and I’ve heard they’ll strike a senko, but I’ve had no luck. I’ve tried texas rigs, wacky worms, a top water walker, a frog, and buzz bait and I’ve not even had a strike in the 7 days I’ve been out fishing there. What am I doing wrong??
The bass might be tricky if the pond’s pressured; I fish a local pond that gets busy. My go-to usually alternates a ned rig and a shallow crankbait in craw colors.
What food source is in the pond for the Bass? Figure out what they are already eating and do the best you can imitating that.
Give us some more info.
Pond size, depth, bottom composition, any weeds, typical size of bass, other fish present, forage base, etc.
“Pond” typically means small and shallow, and a foot of visibility, to me, means you’ll want something that makes some noise but is small.
Ned rig is quiet but good if the bottom is rocky and not much weeds and wood. If there’s submerged wood, try a small spinnerbait, small squarebills are a good bet as well.
When I just need a bite, I’ve also had good luck with the Berkley gulp minnows in like 2 inch size on a drop shot.
Of course there’s always live nightcrawlers and minnows under a float as well.

Ok so that pond in particular I don’t know much about, the city doesn’t have any easily available data on it online. I know it’s got bluegill and largemouth, the only one ove seen was about 15" (and it was caught on just a regular earthworm on a trout hook). I’ve seen several large looking ones hit the top, but ya know… I also saw 4 big fish cruising just below the surface, one kept coming right up to me on the shore. I think they were carp but I could be wrong. The had no interest in the senko.I think the pond is probably about 15 ft. deep max, and like I said very murky water. The bottm seems to be pretty clear of debris, just a few weed patches here and there. A pretty significant part of the water is a dense, shallow, reed bed. They’ll definitely hit a Ned based on some kids I was talking to. I haven’t had anyuck with wacky rigs or spinners, but I have some of those minnows so I’ll try the drop shot there, how do you recommend rigging up the minnows and to what hook? Unfortunately I’m not good enough with my baitcaster to get the really small spinners casted very far, but I can zip a frog like 50 ft now!
Now this weekend I checked out another nearby pond and it was crystal clear and super shallow, you could see the fish clear out to the middle! There I had good luck with an elaztech wacky worm on a weighted weedless hook. They were definitely interested in the frog, but only one actually struck it and he must not have been hungry cause it was pretty half assed
