It’s abit of a slim pickings year to be honest, your ether overpaying or have a prima donna… As Raps fan FVV is underrated though. But Kyrie got less…

I am new to the nba, I understood teams have a salary cap which prevented astronomical salaries within the sport. Anyone care to enlighten me?
The NBA also has a salary floor, a minimum amount a team needs to spend. Houston was $50 million under the salary floor, so they overpaid Fred to cover most of the floor.
That’s is just bonkers.
The salary floor? It’s to ensure the players make 50% of the NBA revenue. Without the floor it’s hard to guarantee enough money is going to the players overall.

The NBA is a bit confusing in that regard. There is a soft salary cap, then different levels of punishment/tax paid if you go over that salary cap depending on how far over you go. The Rockets can easily afford this contract though and still be underneath the normal salary cap.
Interesting fit for them if you ask me. Jalen Green and Amen seemed to be a back court of the future. If FVV doesn’t fall off a cliff I suppose they could trade him after a year or two of Amen developing, but that’s a huge number to move.
